TATTOO AFTERCARE

Here's everything you need to know to keep it healing beautifully:

Step 1: Leave the bandage on

Your tattoo was covered with a second skin bandage after your appointment. Please keep it on for 2–3 days to protect the area during the most sensitive part of the healing process.

If we used Saran Wrap instead (typically due to a reaction or sensitivity to second skin), remove it after 2 hours and proceed to the cleaning step below.

Step 2: Clean gently

Once it’s time to remove your bandage, do so with clean hands under lukewarm water. Gently peel it off and wash the tattoo with unscented, antibacterial soap to remove any buildup of plasma, ink, or residue.
Pat the area dry with a clean paper towel. Don’t rub or use a regular towel.

Step 3: Moisturize mindfully

Once your tattoo is fully dry, apply a very thin layer of fragrance-free moisturizer or ointment. Avoid heavy application. Some artist-approved options include:

  • Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

  • Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture

  • Vitamin E ointment

  • (Or any unscented lotion that works for your skin)

Avoid petroleum-heavy products like Vaseline, as they can trap bacteria and slow healing.

Healing Tips (Weeks 1–3):

  • Wash once daily with unscented soap and lukewarm water.

  • Moisturize 2–3× daily with a light layer—just enough to prevent dryness or itching.

  • Expect some peeling or itching — this is normal. Don’t pick or scratch.

What to Avoid:

No scratching or picking
No re-bandaging
No soaking in water (baths, pools, hot tubs)
No heavy sweating or intense workouts
No direct sunlight or tanning
No dirty clothing, sheets, or towels
No scented lotions, alcohol, peroxide, or sprays on the area

After It’s Healed:

Continue to care for your tattoo by moisturizing regularly and using sunscreen when exposed. It’s not required, but it’ll help keep your tattoo looking vibrant for years to come. :)
